French EPR for toys, sports and leisure, DIY and garden goods

Updated 15 October 2026 · by Bachir Djebaili, founder of REP·Pro

Direct answer: Three French schemes created in 2022 cover toys, sports and leisure goods, and DIY and garden goods. Ecomaison is approved for toys and for DIY and garden products, Ecologic for sports and leisure goods, EcoDDS for some DIY chemicals. The producer is the one who first places the article on the French market; a producer established abroad can appoint an authorised representative established in France. One unique identifier per scheme: a seller of toys and of garden tools has two.

Three schemes, one page

Since 2022 France has three separate schemes for articles that online sellers often group: toys, sports and leisure goods, and DIY and garden goods. Each is a separate registration with its own number and its own eco-organisation. On MyEPR you tick them as one category for the plan; the mandate names the three schemes and the representative registers you with each eco-organisation concerned.

Who the texts call the producer

The person who manufactures in France, imports, or sells at a distance from abroad to French buyers, under its name or brand, articles of these schemes, or who first places them on the French market. A seller established abroad may appoint an authorised representative established in France. The determination of which scheme each product line falls under is yours, from the eco-organisations' published nomenclatures.

The numbers

What MyEPR does for this category

Under the mandate, REP·Pro, established in France, joins the eco-organisation you choose for this category, obtains your unique identifier, files the declarations from the volumes you provide and remains your contact in France. The eco-contributions are invoiced by the eco-organisation at its published rates and re-invoiced to you at cost; the plan price is the only fee. One category is the Starter plan (€29 a month or €249 a year, 12-month plan); with other categories it counts towards Pro or Complete. Pricing · Mandate · How it works.

This page describes the French texts and the service. It is you who determine whether your products fall under this category and whether your company is the producer: the criteria are those of the texts, and the eco-organisations publish their own guides. MyEPR registers you for the categories you tick; it does not decide them for you.

FAQ

A toy with electronics: toys or electrical equipment?

Both schemes can apply: the electrical part falls under WEEE, the toy under the toys scheme. The eco-organisations' guides describe how to declare such articles; you determine the classification, and we register what you tick.

Which products are DIY and garden goods?

Hand tools, garden tools, ladders, pressure washers, hoses, pots and planters, and similar products of the scheme's nomenclature; electric tools fall under WEEE. The eco-organisation's list is the reference.

Do sports goods include bicycles?

The sports and leisure scheme covers sports and outdoor articles such as balls, rackets, fitness equipment, camping goods; bicycles have their own treatment in the scheme. Check the eco-organisation's nomenclature for each product line.
