Checking a number in the ADEME public register: what you can and cannot find

Updated 22 October 2026 · by Bachir Djebaili, founder of REP·Pro

Direct answer: ADEME publishes three open datasets about producer registration. One, updated daily, lists registrations identifier by identifier (scheme, company name, country of registration, approved categories); another lists registrations whose identifier has been withdrawn; a third lists eco-organisation members year by year. We read the fields of all three on 22 October 2026: none carries a representative (mandataire) field. So an identifier and its producer responsibility organisation can be checked yourself, while who the representative is cannot be checked in the public register — this page sets out the routes that do work.

1 · Three datasets, three different questions

The French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME) publishes open data about producer registration on data.ademe.fr. Measured on 22 October 2026:

DatasetRows (measured)UpdatedThe question it answers
rep-producteurs-idu (registered producers and their unique identifier)310,841dailyDoes this identifier exist? In which scheme?
Producers no longer in compliance (identifier withdrawn)108,212dailyHas this identifier been withdrawn? Why, and when?
Annual list of eco-organisation members259,867annual (last updated 31 July 2026)Which producer responsibility organisation is this company in?

2 · The fields of the daily dataset

As measured: Filiere (scheme), Identifiant_societe, Pays (country of registration), Identifiant_unique, Categories_agrement (approved categories), Immatriculation, Raison_Sociale (company name).

One row = one identifier = one company × one scheme. A company registered in three schemes occupies three rows. This is the easiest mistake to make when reading this register.

3 · The steps

  1. Open the dataset rep-producteurs-idu on data.ademe.fr.
  2. Search by company name (Raison_Sociale) or by identifier (Identifiant_unique).
  3. Check three things on each row: the scheme is the expected one; the country of registration (Pays) is right; the approved categories cover the actual products.
  4. Search the same identifier once in the "no longer in compliance" dataset: if it appears, it has been withdrawn, and that dataset gives the motive and the end date.
  5. For the producer responsibility organisation, search the annual members list — and keep its one-year lag in mind.

The number format and the common readings are on the number check page.

4 · What the register does not publish, and what works instead

On 22 October 2026 a search of data.ademe.fr for datasets carrying the word mandataire returned 0, and the fields of all three datasets above carry no representative field. The conclusion is plain: who the representative is cannot be checked in the public register.

Three routes do work, none of which depends on the register:

This page makes no finding about any company's registration: the register gives an identifier, a scheme and a country — not an obligation, and not a conclusion about an individual case. Whether your company is a producer in a given scheme is your determination, from the text of the law; this page gives the method for checking, it does not decide for you.

FAQ

What can the public register confirm?

Whether a unique identifier exists, which scheme it belongs to, the registered company name, the country of registration and the approved categories. The fields of the daily dataset rep-producteurs-idu are: Filiere, Identifiant_societe, Pays, Identifiant_unique, Categories_agrement, Immatriculation, Raison_Sociale (read 22 October 2026, 310,841 rows).

Can I check who my representative is?

No. On 22 October 2026 a search of data.ademe.fr for datasets carrying the word mandataire returned 0, and we read the fields of all three datasets above: none carries a representative field. The public register records a producer's registration, not the identity of its representative. The routes that do work are the written mandate itself, the attestation of mandate the representative issues to each producer responsibility organisation, and asking the organisation directly.

Can I see the date a registration started?

The daily dataset carries no date field at all: it is a state, not a history. The annual members dataset does carry a registration start date, but when we read it on 22 October 2026 its most recent year was 2025 (0 rows in 2026). So the public data does not say when a given row appeared.

Does the register show an identifier that has been withdrawn?

Yes, in a separate dataset. ADEME publishes a list of producers no longer in compliance (identifier withdrawn), with a withdrawal motive (motif_desattribution) and an end-of-compliance date (date_fin_conformite). When we read it on 22 October 2026 it held 108,212 rows, and one of the motives is FIN_DE_CONTRAT (end of contract).
