Amazon.fr and the French EPR number: what Amazon asks, what to enter
Direct answer: Amazon.fr asks sellers who ship to France from abroad to enter, in Seller Central's compliance section, a French EPR registration number for each category they sell in (packaging, electrical equipment, batteries, textiles, furniture and others). Amazon calls it ERN or UIN; it is the French unique identifier, format FRxxxxxx_xx. For packaging Amazon also offers a Pay on Behalf service, which according to its help pages (read 12 October 2026) does not replace the number. A representative established in France obtains the numbers under mandate.
What Amazon.fr publishes for its sellers
Amazon's help pages for Seller Central (read 12 October 2026) describe an EPR compliance section where a seller shipping to French customers declares, per category, whether it is a producer, and enters its French EPR registration number, which the pages call ERN or UIN. The categories listed follow the French schemes: packaging, electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, textiles, furniture, toys, sports goods, DIY and garden, paper, tyres. Amazon's pages state that it may restrict listings without a valid number and that it may itself register, declare and pay on the seller's behalf for packaging under its Pay on Behalf service, for the sales made on Amazon.fr.
What the number is
The French unique identifier issued, through an eco-organisation, by ADEME, format FRxxxxxx_xx, one per scheme, listed in the ADEME register. Amazon's screens verify the format and may check the register. The number check page shows what it looks like and where the public register is; it does not tell you whether a number is valid.
What a representative does for an Amazon seller
A producer established outside France can, since 10 July 2026, appoint an authorised representative established in France (under article L. 541-10-9-1 of the Code de l'environnement). The representative joins the eco-organisation of each category under mandate, obtains the identifiers and files the declarations; the seller enters the identifiers in Seller Central. The eco-contributions remain the seller's and are re-invoiced at cost. Where Amazon's Pay on Behalf applies to packaging sold on Amazon.fr, the registration still provides the number Amazon asks for, according to Amazon's own pages.

FAQ
Amazon says my listings may be deactivated without a French EPR number. What do I do?
The number comes from a registration with a French eco-organisation, one per category. A seller established abroad can obtain it through an authorised representative established in France, under written mandate, which is what MyEPR does. We do not state how long an eco-organisation takes to issue it; the status page shows where each procedure stands.
I ticked « I am not a producer » on Amazon. Is that enough?
That box is Amazon's, and Amazon's help pages describe when it applies (when another company already bears the obligation for the goods, for instance a French supplier). Whether it applies to you is a determination you make from the French texts; MyEPR does not make it for you.
Does Pay on Behalf cover my sales outside Amazon?
According to Amazon's help pages read on 12 October 2026, the service concerns sales made on Amazon.fr and packaging; sales through other channels are outside it. The French registration and number cover all your sales in France.
Which number for which Amazon line?
