French EPR number requirements published by four marketplaces (read 22 October 2026)
Direct answer: This page carries only what each platform publishes itself, with the date it was read. On 22 October 2026: Amazon's official page and seller announcement could be read directly; TikTok Shop's seller university page is rendered by JavaScript and could only be read through a search index; and no official page from Temu or SHEIN about French EPR numbers could be read. Where we could not read, the page makes no statement — platform rules change, and a media report is not a platform's published text. All of them ask for the number itself; the number is issued per scheme by a producer responsibility organisation, not by a marketplace.
1 · The method of this page
Only what each platform publishes itself, with the address and the date it was read. Where we could not read, the page says "could not be read" rather than substituting a media report. Platform rules change, which makes the reading date as important as the content.
2 · Amazon (Amazon.fr)
Official page (sell.amazon.fr, read 22 October 2026, no update date shown on the page):
« you will need to obtain your unique identification numbers (UINs) for the products you sell on Amazon. These will need to be submitted on the Compliance Information for Extended Producer Responsibility page »
« You'll also need to report and pay eco-contributions to a Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) »
That page lists 19 schemes for France: electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, packaging, furniture, textiles, tyres, chemicals, tobacco, oils, sport and leisure, DIY and garden, construction products, piercing equipment, toys, chewing gum, sanitary textiles, professional packaging and fishing gear.
Seller announcement (sellercentral-europe.amazon.com seller forums, read 22 October 2026):
« If you sell in France, you can add your Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Unique Identification Number (UIN) to the EPR Compliance Portal in Seller Central »
« Repeat these steps for each applicable product category »
« Effective January 1, 2022, if you cannot prove your compliance with EPR in France, we will pay the corresponding EPR fees to the qualified Producer Responsibility Organizations Schemes on your behalf and recover the fees from you. »
Read together, those three sentences say: submit the number per scheme; paying on behalf starts when compliance cannot be proven; and the fees are recovered from the seller. See Pay on Behalf and the French IDU.
3 · TikTok Shop
The seller university page for the EPR Pay on Behalf service (seller-ie.tiktok.com) states that a seller listing an item subject to EPR obligations is enrolled automatically in that service unless it provides information showing that it already complies.
⚠ Verification limit: that page is rendered by JavaScript. On 22 October 2026 we could read the text only through a search index and could not re-read the full page, so we could not confirm its update date either. Treat the page inside the seller account as authoritative.
4 · Temu and SHEIN
As at 22 October 2026 we could not read an official page from either platform about French EPR numbers.
This page therefore makes no statement about their requirements. Writing down a requirement one has not read turns someone else's summary into a rule. The reliable source is the platform notice inside the seller account.
5 · What the four have in common
The wording differs from one platform to the next (UIN, ERN, EPR number, a "not a producer" checkbox) while the origin of the number is the same: a producer responsibility organisation issues the unique identifier per scheme, in the form FRxxxxxx_xx. A marketplace checks that number; it neither issues nor withdraws it.
On the legal side: Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environment Code applies from 10 July 2026, under article 5 of the law of 8 July 2026 (no. 2026-602). It has a company with no establishment in France that falls under extended producer responsibility appoint, in writing, someone established there, and provides that the obligation is deemed satisfied where a person referred to in Article L. 541-10-9 established in France ensures that those obligations are met (Légifrance, read 22 October 2026). Whether your company is a producer in a given scheme is your determination, from the text of the law — this page gives the references, it does not decide for you and reaches no conclusion about an individual case.

FAQ
What does Amazon require?
Its official page states that unique identification numbers (UINs) must be obtained for the products sold on Amazon and submitted on the Extended Producer Responsibility compliance information page, and that eco-contributions must be reported and paid to a producer responsibility organisation (sell.amazon.fr, read 22 October 2026, no update date shown). That page lists 19 schemes for France, professional packaging among them. A seller announcement adds that, effective 1 January 2022, where compliance with EPR in France cannot be proven, Amazon pays the corresponding fees to the qualified schemes on the seller's behalf and recovers them from the seller, and that the submission steps are to be repeated for each applicable product category (sellercentral-europe.amazon.com seller forums, read 22 October 2026).
What does TikTok Shop require?
Its seller university page for the EPR Pay on Behalf service states that a seller listing an item subject to EPR obligations is enrolled in that service automatically unless it provides information showing that it already complies (seller-ie.tiktok.com). That page is rendered by JavaScript; on 22 October 2026 we could read its text only through a search index and could not re-read the full page, so we could not confirm its update date. This limitation is stated here.
What do Temu and SHEIN require?
As at 22 October 2026 we could not read an official page from either platform about French EPR numbers. This page therefore makes no statement about their requirements. Chinese-language media covered the subject on 31 May and 23 June 2026, but a media report is not a platform's published text and we do not use it as a source. The reliable source is the platform notice inside the seller account.
Are the requirements the same from one marketplace to the next?
The wording and the pages differ (UIN, ERN, EPR number, a 'not a producer' checkbox), while the origin of the number is the same: a producer responsibility organisation issues the unique identifier per scheme, in the form FRxxxxxx_xx. A marketplace checks that number; it does not issue it and does not withdraw it. The public register records registrations row by row, one row per identifier (ADEME open data, read 22 October 2026).
